ULTRA-VIOLET BLOOD IRRADIATION THERAPY (UBI):
THE RE-EMERGENCE OF A SAFE, EFFECTIVE AND ALL NATURAL WHOLE BODY ANTIBIOTIC, ANTI-INFECTION THERAPY. – Dr. Bridget Walsh ND, Natural Medicine and Detox
What is Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation?
UBI is a simple, non-toxic FDA approved treatment used to treat a wide array of infections and diseases. UBI is intravenously applied ultraviolet light energy, also known as biophototherapy, photoluminescens, photophoresis, hemo irradiation, and photodynamic therapy. It is the process of exposing blood to ultraviolet light to stimulate the immune system and destroy any pathogens in the body including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, cancerous cells, and parasites while rapidly clearing biological toxins.
History of Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation and Photoluminescence Therapy.
For eons ultraviolet light from the sun has cleansed the earth. It has been well known for over a century that ultraviolet light is anti-bacterial and kills microbes. It has been used in water purification, sewage treatment, air ventilation in hospitals and buildings. It is even used to sterilize surgical equipment and operating rooms today. Light has inherent qualities that promote health and has been used for this reason in medicine for over 100 years. Some examples are; ultraviolet light is used for jaundice in newborns, low level lasers for skin rejuvenation, hair growth, acupuncture; high level lasers for dentistry and surgery. Full spectrum light is used for skin conditions and seasonal affective disorder.
Ultraviolet blood irradiation therapy itself has been used since the early 1900’s to treat specific diseases and infection. Dr. Neils Ryberg Finsen, the “father of UBI therapy” was awarded a Nobel Prize in Physiology of Medicine in 1903 for successfully treating people with lupus and various skin conditions using UV light. It was shown to treat diseases such as septicemia since the 1920’s by American researchers E. Knott and V. Hancock. Clinical studies in 1940s showed UBI as an effective treatment for polio virus but was soon replaced by vaccines. UBI therapy was so well accepted that it was used in many hospitals across the US for decades. Early pioneers successfully treated thousands of patients with a whole array of diseases and the results were published in prestigious medical journals. It was used extensively around the world from the 1930’s through the 1960’s to treat a variety of illnesses with over 500,000 treatments on over 30,000 patients with no serious documented side effects.
So why haven’t you heard of this treatment? Unfortunately this treatment was largely abandoned with the discovery of penicillin and went out of favor as huge advances in antibiotics, vaccines, and corticosteriods were discovered in the 1950’s. It was thought that antibiotics would cure infections and steroids would treat allergies and autoimmune diseases. But today we know steroids have dangerous side effects and antibiotics only treat bacterial infections, not viral. And many of the bacterial infections have become antibiotic-resistant, the so-called “super bugs” created by the antibiotics themselves.
Dr. William Campbell Douglas, MD, a very well-known and distinguished medical doctor revived UBI treatment about 20 years ago and has practiced the treatments on thousands of patients with success including treating many terminal stage AIDS patients at an AIDS clinic in Uganda Africa who made full recoveries using his UBI protocol.
Here is a quote from Dr. Douglas’s book regarding UBI therapy: “If you knew of a procedure that could save thousands-maybe millions, would you cover it up? It is unthinkable that what could be the best solution ever to stopping the worlds killer diseases is being ignored, scorned, and rejected. But that is exactly what is happening right now. The procedure is called “photoluminescence (UBI)”. It is a thoroughly tested, proven therapy that uses the healing power of light to perform almost miraculous cures. This remarkable treatment works its’ incredible cures by stimulating the body’s OWN immune responses. That is why it cures so many ailments- and why it has been especially effective against AIDS. Yet, 50 years ago it virtually disappeared from the halls of medicine.”
Now with the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and new viruses on the rise it is peaking new interest in UBI therapy. Light therapy is being revisited today with our increased medical costs, ineffective drugs and antibiotics, and a whole slew of unwanted side effects with modern prescription medications.
UBI Treatment Procedure
The treatment is very simple and relatively quick. The procedure itself only takes about a half an hour. Blood is drawn with a butterfly needle and tubing, much the same as if you were to donate blood. Approximately 100 mL of blood is extracted and travels through a small glass chamber, called a cuvette, which is then exposed twice with ultraviolet light through an instrument called a Hemo-irradiator and returned to the ‘patients’ body using a sterile, closed-loop system. Many patients will feel significant improvement after just a few treatments. Usually only 3-5 treatments are sufficient. Severe and chronic conditions may need 10 or more treatments. Treatment is greatly enhanced with other oxidative therapies such as Ozone and Hydrogen Peroxide IVs.
How Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation works.
Light is energy, made of photons. Photons are absorbed by the blood and directly affect the microcosmic mechanisms of blood cell metabolism. Ultraviolet light is a specific wavelength within the whole electromagnetic spectrum, shorter than visible violet but longer than x-rays. UV light specifically attacks pathogens. UBI therapy introduces ultraviolet energy into the bloodstream energizing biochemical and physiological defenses. The energy is transmitted throughout the blood and initiates a strong immune response. Very little UV exposure to blood is needed to inactivate and destroy pathogens. Some research suggests as little as 0.2% irradiation of the body’s blood volume is enough to achieve an immune response. This is because the blood exposed to ultraviolet light continues to emit secondary radiation which launches a cascade of photochemical processes. Ultraviolet light damages the DNA of viruses and bacteria using “biological resonance” and renders them unable to replicate. Viruses and bacteria are much smaller than human cells and have thin cell membranes therefore specific wavelengths of light (UV wavelengths) are able to penetrate these membranes without damaging our own red and white (immune) blood cells. The body’s ability to produce antibodies increases and destroys pathogenic microbes. Dead pathogens stimulate the immune system further and a plethora of new young and strong white blood cells increase the immune response even more to rid the body of the most stubborn pathogens. Treating the blood directly with UV radiation can expose and irradicate bacteria, viruses, fungus, protozoa and other invaders hiding out in the blood and deep in the tissues. UBI is also known as an oxidative therapy, meaning it increases oxygenation of the blood and tissues. Viruses, bacteria, other pathogens and cancerous cells cannot sustain themselves in an oxygenated environment. Interestingly, UBI treatment has cumulative effects meaning each treatment builds on and enhances previous treatments.
And you don’t have to be sick to benefit from UBI therapy. Our bodies are always fighting invaders such as viruses, bacteria, fungus, and other parasites. We are in a continuous battle with cancer and other cellular disrupters. This is an ongoing daily occurrence. It is only when the body becomes weak, frail, or the immune system is compromised that sometimes the invader or disrupter wins and we begin to see physical symptoms.
What Conditions Can Benefit from Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation Therapy?
According to the Foundation For Blood Irradiation (FFBI), research and clinical trials around the world UBI therapy has been effective in treating the following:
Viral Diseases: Very effective in treating infectious, chronic, acute, and serum Hepatitis. Also Herpes, Shingles, Mononucleosis, Mumps, Measles, Pneumonia, Influenza, HIV/AIDS
Bacterial Infections: Staphylococcus, Streptococcus (Pharyngitis), E. coli, salmonella, otitis media, Pneumonia, C. difficile, Lyme disease, some STI’s, skin infections, wound infections (Including those which are antibiotic/penicillin resistant)
Fungal Infections: Candiadiasis Protozoa: Malaria
Inflammatory conditions: Pancreatitis, Uveitis, Iritis, Nephritis, Cholecystitis, Thrombophlebitis, Bursitis, Osteomyelitis
Autoimmune conditions or Hypersensitive Immune reactions: Allergies, Asthma, Psoriasis. According to the American cancer society clinical trials look promising for the treatment of immune system diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, rejection of transplanted organs and graft-versus-host disease.
Poor Oxygen: Emphysema, COPD Low Blood Counts: anemia
Poor Circualtion: varicose veins, diabetic ulcers/gangrene, non-healing wounds, peripheral vascular diseases, Raynaud’s, vascular headaches/migraines (decreases clotting, reduces blood viscosity, repairs damaged blood cells)
Cancer- Adjunctive conditions: Photoluminescence is still experimental as a cancer treatment but has been shown to be an effective adjunct treatment for cancer, particularly lymphoma and pancreatic cancer. Today a specific type of UBI therapy has been FDA approved to treat cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma, a rare skin cancer. In the mid 1900’s a well-respected American surgeon, Robert Olney, conducted in depth clinical research with ultraviolet blood irradiation and cancer with astounding results which were published in prestigious medical journals.
Others: Chronic Fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Poor Immune Function, Arthritis – Adjunctive Condtions, Infertility, PCOS, PID, Pre-operative protective effects improves blood sugar and cholesterol levels, alkalizes blood, general detoxification
Although largely ignored by the medical community, Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation therapy has been well-documented, thoroughly tested and proven to work. It is a simple, safe and effective treatment that may treat a variety of ailments and diseases today. With the increased ineffectiveness of vaccines and corticosteroids, no good treatment for viral infections (particularly AIDS and Hepatitis), along with the antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria or “super bugs” we’ve created it is so important that we create awareness and recognize there is an alternative out there that really works! The therapy is not only safe but safer and more effective than competing pharma drugs throughout a wide band of therapeutic action. Overuse and over reliance on antibiotics and failure to acknowledge and credit early research in this field may lead to greater epidemics and loss of lives from treatable infections and disease. It is likely in the midst of our inability to effectively treat dangerous microbes wreaking havoc on the human population; modern medicine will begin to embrace the once popular light therapy again.
